Financial Incentive for Public High School Students

The Pé-de-Meia Program was created to help high school students in public schools to stay in school and complete it successfully.

Who Can Participate in the Pé-de-Meia Program?

To be considered for the program, the student must meet some requirements:

  • Be regularly enrolled in public high school;
  • Be between 14 and 24 years old in the case of regular education or between 19 and 24 years old for students in Youth and Adult Education (EJA);
  • Be a member of a family registered in the Single Registry for Social Programs of the Federal Government (CadÚnico), with a per capita income of up to half the minimum wage;
  • Have an active Individual Taxpayer Registry (CPF);
  • Maintain a school attendance rate of at least 80% per month.

How to Participate?

Students do not need to register to receive the incentive. They just need to meet the established criteria and be enrolled in a public school by April 2024. The selection is made by the MEC, which forwards the list of beneficiaries to CAIXA.

Account Opening and Access

  • The digital account is automatically opened by CAIXA in the student’s name and can be accessed via the CAIXA Tem App;
  • If the student already has an active CAIXA Tem account, the payment will be made directly to this account, as long as it is a Digital Social Savings or CAIXA Tem Savings account.

Authorization for Minors under 18 Years of Age

  • The legal guardian must authorize the student’s access through the CAIXA Tem App, in the option “Pé-de-Meia Program” → “Allow access to a minor”.
  • If the guardian is the father or mother, it will be necessary to upload the student’s ID to the app.
  • If the legal guardian is not the father or mother, the authorization must be done in person at a CAIXA branch.

Incentive Values

The Pé-de-Meia Program offers students different types of payments throughout high school:

1.Enrollment Incentive

  • Amount: R$200.00 (single annual installment)
  • Paid at the beginning of the school year to guarantee continued school attendance.

2.Incentive Frequency

  • Amount: R$1,800.00 per year, divided into nine installments of R$200.00.
  • In 2025, exceptionally, eight installments will be paid.

3. Incentive Conclusion

  • Amount: R$1,000.00 at the end of each school year.
  • The amount is retained and can only be withdrawn after high school is completed.
  • At the end of the three years, the student can withdraw a total of R$3,000.00.

4. ENEM incentive

  • Value: R$200.00 (single installment)
  • Paid to encourage participation in the National High School Exam (ENEM).

Payments are made exclusively by CAIXA to the following accounts:

  • CAIXA Tem Savings

Students can transfer money through the CAIXA Tem App, withdraw money from ATMs, lottery outlets and CAIXA Aqui correspondents, using digital withdrawals with tokens and cards.
